Two weeks ago Kalashnikov Museum and Exhibitions complex presented the new exhibition project “Izhevsk experimental small arms”. The project is dedicated to the anniversaries of Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant and Izhevsk Mechanical Plant.

The exhibition is designed to show the role of Izhevsk as one the largest centers for the development and production of small arms in the world. The exhibition will feature experimental models of military, service, hunting, sporting and air guns. Among them there is a series of light assault rifles created at Izhmash (Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant) by young designers on their own initiative in the 1960s. Also the exhibition presents such interesting showpieces as experimental models for a caseless cartridge and a cartridge with an arrow-shaped bullet. In addition, at the exhibition visitors can see a whole series of experimental Abakan assault rifles developed by G.N. Nikonov.

There will also be presented a collection of prototypes of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant: experimental hunting rifles, air pistols and rifles, and even samples for paintball. A unique series of pistols created by Izhevsk gun designer V.A. Yarygin will be of interest to museum visitors.

The exhibition will run until August 2022.
