OPENING OF THE NEW EXHIBITION AND SPECIAL CANCELLATION OF THE ANNIVERSARY POSTAL BLOCK
On the Eve of the Armourer’s Day two significant events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of birth of Mikhail T. Kalashnikov took place in the Kalashnikov Museum and Exhibition Complex of Small Arms.The first event was the commemorative cancelling of the postal block dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the legendary weapons designer. The anniversary stamp depicts the portrait of Mikhail Kalashnikov, whereas on the margins of the postal block you can see drawings of the world’s most famous assault rifle. In addition to the postal block, an envelope depicting the image of the museum named after the famous weapons designer was released. The cancellation ceremony was attended by Elena M. Kalashnikova, Kalashnikov’s daughter and President of Cross-Regional Public Fund named after M.T. Kalashnikov, honoured weapons designers of the Udmurt Republic V.A. Yarygin, M.Y. Dragunov, V.A. Belobragin, V.F. Susloparov, V.A. Budanov.
The second event was the opening of the exhibition “Kalashnikov: for Hunting & Sports”. Guests of the ceremony were greeted by the welcoming speech of Vladimir M. Solovyov, the Minister of Culture of the Udmurt Republic. Vladimir Solovyov congratulated the guests on the Armourer’s Day and said that the new exhibition was a special present to the holiday. Olga V. Minervina, Director of the Kalashnikov Museum, thanked the guests of the event and spoke about the reconstruction work done and yet to be done for the 100th anniversary of Mikhail T. Kalashnikov. The first exhibition tour was given by the museum researcher Vadim N. Khokhlov.
