The exhibition “Weapons of Izhevsk Arms Plants” is devoted to an important stage of the weapons history of Izhevsk.

Since mid-1950s, talented firearms designers have formed powerful teams to produce various weapons of any complexity. In the second half of the 20th century Izhevsk turned into one of the world’s largest centers of small arms development and production. In the 1950s Izhevsk constructors of weapons developed and put into production a number of combat, hunting, sporting and air weapons.

The main features of the Izhevsk weapons school are simplified design, large volume production, high quality and reliability.

The brightest events of that period were launches of the legendary samples of Russian weapons, such as the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Dragunov sniper rifle, the Makarov pistol.

The exhibition features serial and experimental samples of automatic weapons, including the famous AN-94 assault rifle, the Bizon submachine gun and the best samples of rifled and smooth-bore hunting weapons.

Among the exhibits are samples of weapons associated with brilliant victories at the Olympics and world championships. It needs to be emphasized that Soviet biathletes with Izhevsk rifles had been winners for a long time.

Since the 1970s, Izhevsk has become the largest manufacturer of air weapons. The exhibition features popular rifles IZH-22 and IZH-38, IZH-40 and IZH-53 pistols. More than 70 weapons are presented in the exhibition.

The exhibition will work till November 26, 2018.
